š Today's Marketing Breakdown:
Today, I want to share one of the best marketing emails Iāve received all year and how you can replicate it for your business.
It came from Bilt Rewards - the credit card company that lets you earn points on rent.
Note: Iām not affiliated with Bilt in any way. Iām just a customer and a huge fan.
On December 1st, I received this email from them:
This is an A+ marketing email for 3 reasons:
Itās fun and unique.
Theyāre giving value to the customer.
Theyāre receiving value as a business.
Letās break down each of these reasons in more detail š
š§² Fun and Unique:
The first thing I love about this email is itās unlike any email Iāve received before. Itās fun, unique, and I was drawn in as soon as I opened it.
I donāt know about you, but I love puzzles, wordle, problem solving, etc. Any type of short, fun, mind game and Iām locked in.
But whatās most impressiveā¦
They took a painful experience (rent day) and turned it into a slightly more enjoyable one.
š§² Provides Value:
āGet your rent paid, on us.ā
If that isnāt an A++ hook, I donāt know what is.
This isnāt a ā10% off your next orderā type of campaign. This is an awesome value theyāre providing for 3 lucky customers. The type of offer you tell your friends about (or thousands of newsletter subscribers).
And if you donāt end up winning, at the very least, you were entertained.
š§² Generates Value For The Business:
Most giveaways I see in the email marketing world suck. Theyāre often used as click bait to get email signups.
And those extra email signups end up being way less valuable vs. a normal lead because these giveaway signups are just promo hunting.
This giveaway flips that notion on its head. Itās sent to existing customers and increases brand loyalty.
Hereās why itās genius:
It makes customers look forward to rent day - the backbone of their business.
It puts the ārewardsā in āBilt Rewardsā which reinforces their brand.
It drives people to their Instagram page to see if they won. Judging by their 41.9K followers, I think it's safe to say these types of campaigns are doing alright.
šŖ Next Steps To Take:
Think of a short word puzzle that would be on brand for your company.
Come up with an offer worth talking about.
Set up a quick form to collect responses.
Send the email to your existing customers.
Announce the winner on a social channel you want to grow.
Send a follow-up email or text telling people to go to that social channel and see who won.
There you have it! 1 marketing breakdown to help grow your e-commerce business.
āļø Here's one other golden nugget for this week:
Iāve been diving deeeep into AI lately (if you couldnāt tell by the ChatGPT intro today).
